Snow White…

Happy 2013!!!

I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve updated…but I’m back, feeling refreshed, rejuvinated, and ready to take on this new year with gusto!

As far as my holiday, the fiance and I had a beautiful & much needed breather with family and friends in my hometown of Truckee! Not only did I have a wonderful white Christmas, I was able to take a few fresh turns on my snowboard in my Mom’s backyard, snowshoe to a lookout point, build an epic sled hill, and ring in the New Year with some of my closest friends and family! But, that’s not all… I also made sure to take a few photos of a snowy winter outfit.

See…I’m always thinking of this here style blog, and I’m excited to show you my favorite winter wonderland, and how to dress accordingly.

Here ya go!

(Fitted:Vintage turban from Crimson & Clover, plaid Tulle peacoat from Heart, Sweater and button up from Forever 21, reversible polka dot skinny jeans from Nordstrom, new Kate Spade purse from fiance, boots from The Nest, and bracelets from Gigglosophy)

If you are headed to the snowy cold weather anytime soon, be sure to layer up! Tahoe is in the negative degrees in winter, and it can get mighty cold up there. I swear by tights underneath jeans and if I’m wearing a dress…I always double up on the tights. You will also never see me without a hat, they’re essential!

Also, buy a good pair of snow boots. They might not be super stylish and cute, but you won’t slip and fall on the ice, and they are warm and can be thrown together with anything.

Hope you enjoyed the snowy outfit post!

xoxo,

L

Merry Crimson…Happy Mustard

Christmas is right around the corner!!! And I honestly cannot wait to spend time with my family, laughing and making memories.

Don’t get me wrong, I love presents just as much as the next person, but my family will always matter most to me. So, let’s be thankful for them!

In the wake of the terrible tragedy in CT and the trials and tribulations of my own crazy year, the thing I’ve learned most is to cherish all the moments you have with people. Really savour it! Time moves quickly, and when you look back on life, those moments are the ones you’ll remember most fondly.

I know…enough with the sappy holiday speech, and on with the outfit post. Geez…

Here’s an outfit post featuring a pretty crimson colored blouse from Tela that has yet to even hit the online shop.  And no, I’m not hoarding the pretty blouses…It’ll be up soon, don’t worry!

Take a peek:

(Fitted: Thrifted hat, fur cardigan from Jeremy’s, studded crimson blouse from Tela, thrifted belt, pleated mustard skirt from Heart, tights from Target, and my Mom’s vintage boots)

If I don’t see you for a while…Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays. I’m looking forward to another fun filled year, and I hope you are too!

xoxo,

L

A Few of My Favorite Things…

If there ever was a way to put all of my favorite most versatile things into one outfit, this would be the one.

Each and every piece of clothing and accessory in this outfit is what I would recommend to every single woman everywhere. They are all classic and in my personal opinion, the essentials to a great wardrobe.

Take a look, take note, and start thrifting!

(Fitted:Banana Republic scarf from The Nest, chambray button up from Nordstrom, gifted pearls from China, striped sweater and leopard flats from Target, trench and faux leather leggings from Heart Boutique, bracelets from Gigglosophy, and emerald ring from Shop Compliment)

  1. First and foremost, I believe that every woman should own a silk scarf. You can tie it around your neck, your head, your arm, and they will never go out of style!
  2. Trench coat. If you live in a warmer climate, buy a light weight trench… If you live in a colder climate go for a heavy duty one. You cannot go wrong with a good trench, it’s effortlessly stylish and perfect for layering!
  3. Striped sweater. I prefer smaller stripes in classic black and white. You can pair this with literally everything! The versatility in this item is never ending.
  4. Chambray button up. I know I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: Chambray…. Seriously, layer that shit!
  5. A nice set of pearls. Once again, a set of pearls are something you can dress up or down, and you will have them forever. You can go all out and buy a nice string or thrift some. You must have pearls…No question about it!
  6. I know this one might freak you out a little…Faux leather leggings. It seems kinda weird at first, but these things are amazing. They make that booty look bangin’ and are so comfortable and chic. Just do it. Your boyfriend/husband can thank me later!
  7. Leopard flats. I have never been into the whole leopard craze, but a little dash of the print here or there in a belt or in a pair of cute and comfy flats is where it’s at. They just make everything more fun, and who doesn’t love a little fun in their lives!?!
  8. Good accessories. You cannot go wrong with a little bling, and lately I’m all about the arm party! My two favorite brands for affordable accessories are Gigglosophy and Compliment. They also make perfect stocking stuffers for friends!

I know everyone’s wardrobe is completely different, but I really believe that these items are the perfect versatile addition to your fabulous life!

Do you agree or disagree?

What are your most valued closet essentials?

Goodbye Fall…Hello Winter.

Does it ever feel like you are just trying to keep up, and it all just seems to pass by without much blink of an eye!?!

I sure do! I’ll tell you one thing, I was SO looking forward to fall, and all of the fun adventures I had planned, and now all of a sudden it’s December and fall is long gone. How does that happen??? Time just seems to zoom past and I’m constantly trying not to miss all the moments. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the precious moments in time, it’s just that they are fleeting and I can never seem to hold on to them for long enough.

I love life, and I love to soak it all up and bask in it’s wonderfulness, but as I am basking in the warmth of the summer sun, everyone else is bundled up for winter preparing for christmas…How did we get here already, seriously!?! I think a big part of all this crazy confusion is the fact that I am one busy bee! I have never had so much going on in my life…Ever. It’s pretty overwhelming sometimes.

I guess I’ll just have to work on soaking in every last drop of life, and keep the memories close, so that when I do get a free minute I can remember all the amazing accomplishments that are happening each and everyday. There we go…Hit ya with some good ol’ positivity!!!

I also have been thinking about my blog a lot lately…There are so many things I wanna fill you in on, and so many fashion features I wanna do, I am always thinking of fun and different new outfit posts. The biggest hangup for me, is the most simple… Just sitting down at my computer at the end of the day and typing. I just need to do it. Spare one extra hour from my day and blog. I know it will make me feel monumentally better, so every time I give an excuse I’ll remember exactly that.

Even though it’s midnight and I’m totally exhausted, here’s a little peek at what I chose to wear today yesterday…Let me know what you think!

(Fitted:Gifted black sequin beret, plaid Tulle Coat from Heart, Infiniti scarf from Target, burgandy cardigan from Tela, black pleated dress from Nordstrom Rack, belt from Shop Ruche, tights from Nordstrom Rack, and my Mom’s perfectly worn in black boots that I have been coveting for ages..Thanks Mom!!!)

Thank you for listening to my crazy long rant! Now I’m ready for anything!!!

Stay tuned for a super fun holiday feature coming soon.

xoxo,

Cobalt & Mustard…

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I had a very relaxing holiday in the mountains of Tahoe with friends and family. It was perfect and one of the best Turkey Days I’ve had yet!

Now that I’m home though, it’s back to business as usual…and I have a fun outfit post for you all.

I’ve been mixing colors like a maniac lately, and I’m especially loving jewel tones. Aren’t they just gorgeous!?!

My favorites have been emerald, oxblood, cobalt, and mustard. Try as I might I can’t ever seem to wear just one color.  I’m one of those people who likes to mix my outfits with as many different colors as possible. I know…One of those weirdos. Oh well!

Take a look below, to see how I styled a gorgeous cobalt blue dress…

(Fitted: Brixton hat from Goodstock, mustard scarf from Heart, cobalt dress from Tela, tights and blazer from Target, booties from Amazon, and bracelets from Gigglosophy)

I’m kinda crazy about this cobalt dress from Tela. It’s one of those dresses that can be dressed up with tights, a statement necklace and some fabulous heels…Or dressed down with boots, a scarf and a cardigan for a weekend adventure. Whenever I buy something new, I always make sure it can be worn multiple ways, so that it doesn’t just sit in my closet collecting dust.

Some of the best advice I can give you about buying clothing, is to think about how versatile the item is. Can it be casually worn? Can it be dressed up? Can you mix and match it with other items in your closet? My rule of thumb is this: If you can’t wear it multiple times, then just say no. Spend your money on something that will get more wear.

That’s all for now…Cheers to the holidays!

Stripes, A Trench, and A Dash of Leopard…

The leaves are quickly turning here in Sac Town, and I can’t quite wrap my head around how fast time flies. I swear it was summer just a week ago…Wasn’t it? I can’t complain though, this weather is delightful, and I’ve been going a tad crazy styling up fun fall outfits.

I’ve also become increasingly obsessed with all things striped, so don’t tell me I didn’t warn you…

In other news, I’ve been working tirelessly on Tela lately, and I recently opened a few new boxes of merchandise for the pop-up shop parties happening soon! You know the new inventory is cute when I have to make up excuses to snag a few of my favorite items from the shop. ;)

Take a sneak peek for yourself …

(Fitted: Green striped top and Trench Coat from Tela, blue jeans from F21, vintage turban from Crimson and Clover, necklace from Shop Ruche, thrifted bracelets, and leopard flats from Target)

So, what do you think?

If you live in California and like what you see, be sure to email me at telaclothing@gmail.com to find out how you can host a Tela pop-up shop party this holiday season!

Tahoe Mountain Style…

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time in my hometown of Truckee lately, and I thought it would be fitting to do an outfit post by the beautiful Donner Lake. I spent many a’ years playing in this lake, I even lived a couple blocks away before I moved to Sac. It’s one of my favorite places to go when I come home, and I will always treasure all the memories made there.

Dressing for Tahoe’s weather can definitely be tricky. I advise lots of layers, that way if it gets warm, you can peel a layer off. I also would say comfort trumps being uber fashionable. Tahoe is such a laid back place, and comfort really is key. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t still be stylish!

Here is an example of how I dressed comfortable with a dash of individuality on a nice fall afternoon in Tahoe…

(Fitted: Borrowed beanie from Mom, Trench jacket from Heart Boutique, Blazer and tights from Target, Striped Everly dress from Shop Ruche, and vintage boots)

With my worn-in vintage boots, tights, easy breezy dress, and light trench coat, I was able to explore my old stomping grounds and still bring a little Sac style into the mix!

Fall Style Inspiration…

Fall is here, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! I have been endlessly scanning Pinterest in search of the perfect fall outfits and inspiration for the cooler months ahead.

Why don’t you take a peek at what’s been catching my eye lately via Pinterest…

Statement Brights:Choose a statement piece, and build your outfit from there. It can be simple, paired with nice jeans, you can also build on top of the brights with more color for a double whammy, or pair with a fun skirt. Bringing color into the mix is really a fun new way to spruce up fall. And why the hell not right!?!

Fun prints:

I have been going crazy over fun prints for fall. You can even take it to another level by adding a colorful pant or mixing prints in unexpected ways. Give it a try…You’ll love it!

Fall Skirts:Most of you already know my love for dresses, but I’ve been wanting to switch it up and start wearing more skirts. Try a long flowy skirt in a bold color paired with a light sweater, a pretty pencil skirt, or a pleated skirt paired with tights and a cardigan.

Chambray:

If you don’t have a chambray button up, you need to go out and get one like NOW! Best investment ever!!! You can literally pair it with anything and everything in multiple ways. I found the perfect chambray at Nordstrom. So, now you have no excuses… GO ahead! You can thank me later.

Jewel Tones:

Jewel tones are perfect for fall. And this year, they are everywhere…From slacks to sweaters to blouses and skirts. Jewel tones will turn around that drab winter complexion into a glowing gorgeous one! So, get in line and grab a color in the jewel tone of your choice. My favorite fall colors are mustard, cobalt, emerald, and maroon. Go ahead give it a try. Be sure to pair it with your chambray and let me know how it goes!

Browns:

I don’t know why, but I’ve been digging the color lately. Add a print and a pop of color and you are ready to go!

The Perfect Coat:

The quest continues for the perfect coat… For some reason, I have always had a weird coat/jacket addiction. I guess living in the Mountains for so long where it’s cold most of the year was probably a big part… I don’t think I could ever have too many. They are essential for the cold months. I’ll take one of each above…Aren’t they all absolute perfection!?!

All photos found on Pinterest

I hope you’ve become inspired for fall, fashion, and all the fun outfits that coincide… I know I surely am!!!

Fall is in the Air…

My month-long blogging hiatus has finally come to an end…I am back! I know that it’s   been long overdue, and believe me when I say…I have so much to tell you!!!

But first, I want to recognize that it’s officially fall here in Sac-Town! Even though some days I feel that summer will never end… You can’t deny the fact that the leaves are beginning to turn, and there is the crisp fall scent that fills the air, and the auburn glow that beckons you to breathe it all in. Fall truly is a magical time of year.

So, in honor of fall…I thought I’d show you how I’ve been styling myself as of late, and what I’ve been up to… Especially now that I am owner and operator of Tela Clothing Boutique. Yes, you heard right!!! The online boutique that I have been working closely with for the past few months has officially been handed over to me…And I am overjoyed at this amazing opportunity!

So without further ado, a fun fall-inspired outfit to get back in the swing of things…

(Fitted: Lace sweater and Chevron dress from Tela Clothing, House of Harlow geometric necklace from Heart Boutique, bracelets from Gigglosophy, tights from Target, and booties from Amazon)

My life has definitely been quite hectic lately, but I’m pretty happy with the way things are going, and I hope you are as excited as I am about this new endeavor.

The changing of the leaves are in motion right now, and I for one am ready for all the new adventures that lie ahead!

I hope you stay tuned and come along for the ride…

You Need a Fashion Shower…

Only because my love for the movie Zoolander is deeply embedded in my everyday life, I must show you this…

Introducing H&M’s new music video promoting Anna Dello Russo’s upcoming fall line.

All I ask is for you to take a few minutes to soak it all in…

As soon as I saw it, I was almost sure it could’ve been a scene from Zoolander. Am I right!?! Except…nope, it’s not…It’s real. And I gotta say, I kinda really wish it was Will Farrell dancing around like an eccentric fashion mad man instead, but this will have to suffice for now.

One things for sure…That woman is bat shit crazy. But at least I was able to have a good laugh starting out the week ahead.

Now do yourself a favor and go watch some ZOOLANDER!!!
