Big News…

Wow…

I have so many amazing things to fill you in on since I last left for our dreamy trip to the Northern California Coast.

I guess I should start by saying…I’M ENGAGED! Eeeeeeep…I am SO excited I can hardly stand it!

Well, are you ready for the deets on how it all went down…!?!

Here’s the scoop:

It was the 3rd night of our epic trip on the Mendocino Coast, we had spent the past couple days exploring the redwoods, sightseeing, playing on the beach, and eating our fair share of incredible seafood. It was turning out to be such a wonderful trip!

The night of the “Super Moon” arrived…May 5th. The boyfriend decided it would be nice to go watch the moon rise in all its glory while we listened to the waves crash on the beach. I was exhausted, but tiredly agreed. It was the Super Moon after all, on the ocean nonetheless…It was something that could not be missed!

We arrived at a lookout we visited a couple days earlier. I hopped out of the car to see what the whole super moon business was all about. It was beautiful, the last of the sun had just fallen behind the sea, and the moon shone like a spotlight overhead. All the details of the moon were visible, it’s as if it were right there, so close! It was amazing, it was perfect.

That’s when it happened… Ethan scooped me up, took out a sparkling ring, and placed it on my finger. He popped that very exciting question, and I of course…A couple blubbering emotional seconds later replied with a “yes, yes, yes!!!”. He completely surprised me! I didn’t see it coming at all. It was awesome!!! And let me tell you…It’s very hard to surprise me, I’m quite the investigator…

It felt like a dream, and at first I could’ve sworn that indeed it was a dream, and none of it had been real. But, it was very real, and I was engaged!!! Engaged to the person I love most in this world. To the man I have been SO very happy with for 5 great years. He’s my person, my person I turn to with anything and who loves me unconditionally. I am so incredibly lucky to have found him!

I still go through stages where I can’t really believe it. It’s such a pivital moment in one’s life. You never really know what it’s going to feel like. But, I have to say…I am the happiest I have ever been, and I have never been more sure of anything in my entire life.

So, enough of the sappy love talk, and here’s a couple up-close and personal photos of the very gorgeous ring he chose:

I love it! It’s simple and classic, but has a few art-deco touches that give it some personalityThe boy did an amazing job picking out the perfect ring, and confessed that he’d been looking for over a year to find “the one”. Now that’s some dedication!

Hope you are as happy as I am!

Stay tuned for photos from our trip and a new sponsor feature coming up soon!

xoxo,

L

Never Never Land…

Don’t you wish you could escape to Never Never Land sometimes?

I most definitely do! After my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time last month, and after a very difficult first chemo session, we decided it was about time to to go on a fun trip to a faraway never before seen place.

And so…

We are taking a road trip to Mendocino, where we will rejuvinate, relax, explore, and watch the waves crash against the bluff while we dip our toes in the warm ocean sand. That’s our Never Land, and we are going there…

But, don’t worry… I have one last outfit post before we say bon voyage, and peace out of this place for a while.

Here ya’ go!

(Fitted: Peter pan collar blouse and mustard skirt from Heart Boutique, tights from Target, envelope clutch from Article Consignment, vintage cuff from Alameda Antique Faire, and heels from Goodwill Boutique)

I got my peter pan collar on, and I’m ready to go to Never Land! I hope you find your Never Land too.

See ya soon lovelies!

xoxo,

L

Sunday Sherbet…

Sunday Funday has come and gone… :(

I spent the weekend in my hometown of Truckee, hangin’ with my Mamasita, snowboarding, having fun with friends, and watching the annual Cushing Crossing (pond skim) at Squaw Valley. It was so great to be with friends we don’t get to see often, get a few turns in, eat some sushi, and chill out and enjoy the beautiful mountains…. Pretty much a picture perfect weekend!!!

In honor of Springtime, I put together quite the colorful outfit combo, and I thought it was only right to give you a glimpse.

Take a little look why don’t-cha…

(Fitted: Vintage sunnies from Scout Living, hat and shirt from Urban Outfitters,  Mossimo colored skinnies from Target, Mia T-strap wedges, wrap bracelet by JFF by KB9 Design, and all other accessories gifted)

What do you think of this candy colored combo? I am sort of a color fanatic, and I think these colors pair especially well with each other.

I urge you to dig through your closet and practice putting together a few unlikely colors. It takes a little practice, but don’t be afraid to just go for it.  I recommend grabbing 5-6 different colors and trying them on to see which one works best. That’s how I found this fun outfit combination!

It brings to life some of those clothes you haven’t worn in a while. And you’ll be happy you did…Color is this summers hottest trend.  Not to mention it’s a fresh way to welcome  spring!

So, jump on the band-wagon and roll with it…It’s time to color your life with a little fun!

Pastel Perfection…

There’s something about pastels that make me giggle with affection. I love the innocence and the subdued sweetness of the colors. I guess it takes me back to yesteryear when I was a child running around hunting for eggs on Easter Sunday.

Whatever the case, pastels can be a fun new way to brighten up a wardrobe. But, beware…They can also be a bit challenging to style. It’s nice to remember being a kid, but we don’t want to look like one. So, it’s important not to go too overboard. I like to add some neutrals or throw on a leather jacket to create a clean polished look.

This is how I styled up a fun pair of butter yellow trousers from Target…

{Fitted:Thrifted polka dot cardigan, cami from Heart Boutique, vintage sunnies from Scout Living, yellow trousers and flats from Target, clutch from Article Consignment, and owl necklace from Forever 21}

I know it can be extremely intimidating to try a new trend, but my rule is this: Chose one piece, and build up from there. I chose the pants as my base, added a white neutral, and a few whimsical details to keep it “me” and let everything else fall into place.

So, what do you think? Are you interested in giving this pastel craze a try? I say go for it! You never know unless you jump on in and give it a go!

Pretty in Peplum…

Oh peplum, how I love thee!

If you haven’t noticed, peplum is huge this year. I’ve been seeing it all over the runways, and I for one am a BIG fan. Not only have I been loving peplum, but also all the blush pinks that have made their debut this season as well…

So, you’ll bet I shrieked in excitement when I received this dress from ModCloth’s “Stylish Surprise” gift bag… I was incredibly lucky they sent me this fabulous frock… It fits me to the T and all the details are so beautiful. You are sure to be swooning once you take a peek!

So, thank you ModCloth, you did good!

Here’s a look at my fancy-shmancy peplum dress:

{Fitted: Ark&Co peplum dress from ModCloth, Tights from Target, Clutch from Article Consignment, Monolo Blahnik strappy heels from Jeremy’s SF, and all accessories gifted.}

So…What do you think of the dress? Is it a trend you could see yourself wearing this spring? And what about that gorgeous blush color?

This is a perfect example on how to take a runway trend and make it your own. Get out there and give it a try!
